Comments and Conclusions

• AF is proving to be a very useful non-invasive technology to document abnormalities of the RPE and related photoreceptors.
• Uitra-widefleld AF is proving valuable in disorders affecting large zones of the retina such as in many of the retinal degenerations.
• Screening of young children in families with retinal degeneratlons can be easily accomplished with uwf AF.
• Use of uwf AF reveals patterns of degeneration (such as the “Dart Board” retinopathy) not previously recognized.
• Treatment of retinal degenerations is becoming a very visible light at the end of the tunnel.2
