Heidelberg Spectralis® EDI-OCT of the right (top) and left (bottom) eyes

Reports in the literature describe hyper-reflectant lesions seen with infra-red (IR) imaging, in patients with NF1. Below are the hyper-reflectant lesions marked with red arrows for each of the patients described above. These lesions are only seen with IR imaging, utilized in enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) and are not visible on fundus imaging or indirect ophthalmoscopy. This is because infrared light penetrates the RPE better than visible light.
