Near Infrared Imaging (NIR)

• Near Infrared Imaging (NIR) — high sensitivity and specificity
  • NIR uses longer wavelengths of light that penetrate deeper into the retina to improve visualization of subretinal and choroidal structures

NIR images of SDDs are a hyporeflective reticular or target pattern that often presents as an isoreflective core surrounded by hyporeflective halo (as opposed to typical drusen that are hyperreflective on NIR imaging)^3,15
