Back to the patient:
- This patient was referred for YAG laser vitreolysis in 2007. Dr. Scott Geller, a board-certified ophthalmologist recognized internationally for his expertise in treating vitreous opacities, completed two 1-hour long sessions of vitreolysis OS.The patient was recommended to come back for a third session, but she did not follow up due to limited subjective improvement of vision as well as discomfort and pain from the extended use of a contact lens throughout procedure.
- Cataract extraction OS was performed with a multifocal IOL in 2018 and OD with standard IOL in 2024.
- Multifocals IOLs are correlated to an increased awareness of floaters. It is thought that the clarity of the IOL compared to the cataract as well as the presence of the transition zones makes patients more aware of their floaters.5
