*Case 5: Annidis MSI OD The following images reveal early RPE epitheliopathy in a 38- year old Caucasian, heavy smoker, with light irides, a poor self-reported diet and a family history of AMD. Case 3: Topcon 3D OUI Image OU The PIL which has been previously shown in RR to correlate well with VA is normal in the right and somewhat attenuated in the left, especially above the PED. Hence, OCT, MSI and AF abnormalities all appear to reflect different abnormalities in AMD and related disorders.
Case 3: Topcon 3D OCT Image OS SD OCT of the left eye reveals a persistent pigment epithelial detachment (PED) and RPE migration.

Case 3: Annidis MSI Infrared and Optos uwf AF OS In the left eye as well, there is a poor correlation between the melanin deposits and the AF findings. In any one case, it is unclear at present which technology is most sensitive to dysfunction.
Case 3: Annidis MSI Infrared and Optos uwf AF OD The pigmentary changes noted on the MSI IR are most likely due to melanin clumping or stacking. The AF, which reflects abnormalities in the aging pigment lipofuscin (LF), appears normal. Note that melanin stacking can occur with normal LF as revealed with AF.
AMD Genetic Testing As reported above, the patient is in the Risk Category 1, the lowest risk category.
