History/Chief Complaint

55 year old male with a history of central serous chorioretinopathy OS that dates back 4 years. Home Amsler reveals a subtle defect to the left of fixation OS.

Clinical Findings

  • BCVA: OD 20/20 and OS 20/20
  • Fundus Exam:
    – Cup/Disc Ratio: 0.75 H and 0.75 V OU.
    – Subtle pigmentary disturbance in the left macula.
  • Humphrey Zeiss 24-2 and 10-2 Visual Fields: Within normal limits OD and OS.
  • Multifocal ERGs (mfERGs): Reveal a subtle reduction in amplitude centrally OS.

OCT Image

  • OCT scans demonstrate the presence of a normal photoreceptor integrity line, PIL (see page 10) in all sections OD.
  • OCT scan reveals a clear localized gap in the PIL and RPE nasal to the foveal pit OS.

Note: Such gaps or breaks in RPE have been previously reported in central serous.1
