Case 5: Diopsys™ Nova-DN OU

Visually evoked potentials (VEPs) were obtained with the new Diopsys system, the NOVA (Neuro Optic Vision Assessment). The specific program used was the DN (Diseases of the Optic Nerve) and each testing condition takes only 15 sec or so. Above are VEPs to low and high contrast levels through both the right and left eye. The Bar graphs demonstrate normal (displayed in green) amplitudes of the VEP under the 4 conditions tested but delays in latency (displayed in red) which are greater (or more delayed) in the right eye than the left. As a general rule, VEP delays (in reaching the occipital lobe) objectively confirm an optic nerve disorder. These findings could be due to glaucoma or to a non-glaucomatous optic neuropathy.
