Richard J. Madonna, M.A., O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Richard J. Madonna is Associate Professor of Optometry, Chair of the Department of Clinical Education, and Director of the Office of Continuing Professional Education at the SUNY State College of Optometry. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics relating to ocular disease, ophthalmic imaging, and therapeutic drugs. He is a co-author of the texts, Emergency Care In the Optometric Setting and The Photoreceptor Integrity Line – as Imaged by Spectral Domain OCT.

His teaching duties at SUNY include being the course coordinator for the first-year Ocular Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology course as well as teaching a number of portions of the ocular disease curriculum. He is the 2011 New York State Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year. Dr. Madonna was formerly Director of the Optometric Residency Program at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System, and was formerly Chief of the Optometry Section at the VA Medical Center in Castle Point, New York as well as having been a principal in two private practices.
