In contrast to the RNFL defect that fans out towards the periphery, the more narrow defect above it appears to be a RNFL “slit”.5 This slit does not widen towards the periphery. In his RNFL book, Harry Quigley uses the term slit to refer to narrow defects which do not widen and are less than the width of the retinal vessels.5 Quigley considers these physiological in nature. Serial imaging is appropriate to confirm that such slits do not change over time. (The 2 dots in the lower left are dust artifacts.)
