MAIA is a non-mydriatic scanning laser ophthalmoscope which
incorporates a high speed eye tracker and an automated
macular perimeter to determine threshold sensitivity of the
macular area and fixation characteristics and monitor these
parameters in subsequent examinations.
Any maculopathy from agerelated macular degeneration,
amblyopia, glaucoma or unexplained vision loss can be
evaluated and described in terms of threshold sensitivity and
fixation stability. These values can be compared to standard
changes that occur with age. Moreover MAIA can be used to
evaluate the effect external laser or anti-VEGF treatment
regimens have on retinal disease.
