- Ultrasonography is certainly not a routine clinical procedure to be performed on every patient.
- It Is considered a supplemental test, ordered when additional information is not readily available by routine examination procedures.
- In general, ultrasonography is performed when it Is difficult to observe the fundus directly, as with media opacities.
- It Is also performed when it is desirable to view the orbital tissue behind the globe-tissue also not directly observable.
