• Optic nerve coloboma, optic pits and morning glory disc syndrome have a somewhat similar optic disc appearance and have been referred to collectively as cavitary optic disc anomalies. All three are associated with serous retinal detachment and retinoschisis.1
  • This week’s case is about an asymptomatic patient who was diagnosed as an infant with a disc coloboma in the left eye. A recent evaluation with SD OCT and B- scan ultrasound revealed an excavated optic disc and several zones of subtle retinoschisis at various levels of the retina as well as one very large inferior retinoschisis.
