Comments and Conclusions
• Using OCT, Bergmeister’s Papillae (BP) are found in about 73% of normal, young eyes.2
• Persistence of the fetal vasculature (PFV) is a clinically useful, encompassing term that includes BP and prepapillary vascular loops as well as anterior remnants of FV.1
• BP are often found nasally, hence position can be useful in the detection of this structure.3
• Although poorly recognized, vitreal papillary traction is similar to the well known vitreal macula traction (VMT) and can result in vision reduction.
• SD OCT is remarkably useful in revealing and monitoring myriad disorders at the optic nerve head, many invisible to ophthalmoscopy.
