Case 1: Topcon 3D OCT OD
A vertical OCT scan slightly temporal to the fovea reveals the presence of a PIL.1 Although the PIL is somewhat poorly formed in the macula, it is essentially missing entirely outside the macula. The Defect Curve reveals that all points are abnormal in sensitivity. This is likely due to the abnormal photoreceptors as evidenced by the abnormal PIL.
The RPE is somewhat attenuated superiorly in this vertical scan and is essentially missing inferiorly. When the RPE is lost, the membrane under the RPE, Bruch’s membrane is unmasked and becomes visible. This suggests that the RPE is more abnormal inferiorly than superiorly.
