Note that the ultra-widefield image revealed pigmentary change inferiorly and in the inferior temporal arcade. The disc appears to display cupping greater vertically than horizontally. In retinal degenerations, three forms of pigmentary changes occur: pigment atrophy, pigment hypertrophy and pigment migration. In the latter, RPE cells migrate from the RPE layer through most of the neuro-sensory retina and appear to wrap around large retinal vessels which are often in the RNFL.
