Clinical Findings (Recent exam 10/23/09)

  • CC Vision considerably worse LE over past year or so with poor side vision and poor night vision.
  • Vision essentially useless RE for many years.
  • No family member has yet to be identified with any related eye disorder.
  • VA HM R 20/70 L.
  • Fundus exam- Atrophic appearing retina with widespread pigmentary clumping OD greater than OS.
  • No visual field measurable in the right eye and very constricted in the left eye.

SD OCT

  • Very thin retina with virtually no evidence of the photoreceptor integrity line (PIL) (see page 20). Pigment cell migration to blood vessels resulting in increased visibility of the vessels with bone corpuscle pigment.

Differential Diagnosis

  • AZOOR after 2 decades of progression.
  • RP with unusual early presentation.

Disposition

  • Genetic testing for RP genes.2
