Exemplary Case of Complications of Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

History/Chief Complaint

  • 41 year old male with very poor vision in the right eye with a several year history of central serous chorioretinopathy.

Clinical findings

  • BCVA: OD 1/400 and OS 20/20
  • Fundus Exam: Fibro-glial scar nasal to fovea OD and edema residues inferior to macula secondary to CNV.

OCT Image

  • Sections through the fibro-glial scar reveal an elevation due to cystoid spaces, scar tissue and perhaps some lipid.
  • The RPE is present at and near the fovea but the PIL is not.
  • The reduced VA is at least in part due to the absence of the PIL under the fovea.
