The image below is a time domain (TD) Stratus OCT horizontal section taken inferior to the fovea and demonstrates that the outer retina at the level of the photoreceptor integrity line, PIL (see page 19) appears somewhat disorganized. The retina is also thickened in this area.
Note: The PIL is generally poorly defined in TD OCT and much better visualized with SD OCT viewed in grey scale.
