Case 5: Optomap® Fundus Image Comparison of Left Eye

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) has been linked to the appearance of CHRPE-like lesions in the retina. These CHRPE-like lesions are RPE abnormalities that occur bilaterally and have some degree of variability in size and shape.1 There are usually four or more lesions present (not grouped like “bear track” lesions) and they may show depigmentation in a lacunar or tail-like fashion along with peripheral RPE stippling.1 If surgical removal of the colorectal polyps is not performed on patients with FAP, it can lead to the development of colon cancer and can often be fatal.8
