As depicted on the last page, the RNFL defect is obvious 3-5 DD away from the optic nerve head. But as shown below, it does not appear to reach the disc and does not appear to result in a superior notch. Notice the RNFL defect is nearly invisible close to the disc due, in part, to the proximity of the retinal artery. Note the RNFL is splayed toward the periphery in contrast to the retinal vessels.
