In this horizontal scan below the fovea, there appears to be 3 distinct cyst-like gaps, “bubbles” or cavities deep within the macula. The term “foveal cavitation” has recently been introduced for patients with cone disorders but these patients exhibited only singular cavities.1 In RR#24 numerous examples of singular cavities are revealed in patients with rod monochromatism and some other related disorders.
