that drusen can predict the development of
AMD.2 Drusen are composed of various
lipids, polysaccarides, glycosaminoglycans
and protein molecules that mediate
inflammatory and immune processes.1
Cellular components including RPE debris,
lipofuscin, and melanin have also been
found within drusen.1
