Case 3: Optovue iVue Gray Scale OCT Image OS

A Normal BUT Rare OCT Image

Patient Information
• African American
• Female
DOB: 5/26/2008

This high resolution SD OCT that we obtained with an iVue in a difficult 2 year-old demonstrates that such scans are possible in infants and toddlers. The history revealed shaken baby syndrome but fortunately the retina appears normal. The normal photoreceptor integrity line (PIL) across a 6 mm scan indicates normal rods and cones. Note the PIL remains normal, even at low sensitivity. These scans were obtained by taking the OCT off its base and using it as a hand held device, similar to a hand held Perkins tonometer.
