B-Scan Images of Right and Left Eye

A B-scan ultrasound is very useful in
determining if a retinal elevation is cystic or
solid. In this case, the B-scan images
revealed that the inferior temporal lesion in
the right eye was a shallow retinoschisis and
the superior temporal lesion in the left eye
was a typical dome-shaped retinoschisis.
The shallow RS was detected with Optos®
and B-scan, but missed by BIO.

Neither retinoschisis was causing any visual
complaints so careful follow-up was recommended
and the patient was told to return immediately
if any flashes, floaters, spots, etc were noticed.
