Example 1: Unilateral Retinoschisis Limited to the Inferior Retina

History/Chief Complaint

  • Asymptomatic 50 year old white male

Clinical Findings

  • BCVA: OD 20/20 and OS 20/20
  • Refractive Error:
    • OD -9.00
    • OS -9.00
  • Fundus Exam: Revealed a tilted, oblique entrance of the optic nerve head OU. No optic nerve head pits were identified.

  • OD: As demonstrated in the Cirrus high definition 2D movie on page 1, superior retinal sections are essentially within normal limits. The retinoschisis becomes apparent as we move to the inferior sections. In addition, cystoid spaces are observed in the macula. In sections 100 through 128, multiple splits within the retina become prominent. Subtle vltreal retinal traction appears to be present Inferiorly.
  • OS: Within normal limits.
